‘I have struggled with my weight and have had body issues most of my life. In my eyes, I have always been the bigger friend and the one who was always dieting. I have done weight watchers probably 5ish times. Losing weight, feeling deprived, binge eating, and repeating the cycle. HOW EXHAUSTING.
So funny thing is, I have never actually met Jenna in person, but I couldn’t imagine my life without her. I saw a few acquaintances of mine following Happy Slim Healthy on Instagram and was like, “cool hope this chick posts some yummy recipes.” (Side note: Jenna does have some awesome recipes!!) After following along for some time and seeing how up beat and consistent Jenna was with her foods and workouts, I knew I needed to hop on this Happy Slim Healthy train!
From the start Jenna was excited and encouraging. She was ready to answer any questions and so super ready to give me motivation and a push in the direction I wanted to go.
What I didn’t realize coming into this is, although I wanted to lose weight, I needed to jump over some mental health hurtles first.
Like WHY I really wanted to make changes in my life. Once we talked about the why, we moved on to the how. So HOW am I going to make changes for the rest of my life? We really worked on how to navigate lots of situations, from vacations, to food pushing family members and setting boundaries, going out to eat, and even journaling. I also learned how to better navigate the kitchen and what to look for in foods and portion sizes. Once ALL of this started to line up, I started seeing the pounds fall off me. My clothes started to fit better and I had so much more energy.
I am STILL learning about myself and how to go about my world in a happy and healthy way. My people pleasing self still struggles with saying no that extra mimosa at brunch that my friends want me to drink with them. The saying no part is HARD but getting easier with time. I just have to remember saying no is not selfish, but important to maintain my goals and how I really want to live my life.
Jenna has helped me create goals and plans for my everyday life without me missing out on all the fun. I still go out with my friends. I still have a drink here and there. I still eat pizza and pasta. YES, I’m still eating pizza and pasta and still losing weight! ALL of it is just way more balanced!!!
